MEN'S AND WOMEN'S
Scotch & Soda
Amsterdam has always dressed in layers, and Scotch & Soda turned that habit into a house style. The label builds an outfit in three or four pieces rather than one: a printed shirt under a solid overshirt, a knit over that, a jacket that still has to close over all of it. Very little in the range is drafted to be worn alone, which is why the cuts stay lean and the fabrics stay light enough that the whole stack keeps moving.
Denim sits underneath it all, carried by the house's own line, Amsterdams Blauw, blauw being simply the Dutch word for blue. Around the jeans go the shirting, knitwear and light outerwear that keep working through weather that changes its mind by lunchtime. The interest is in finish rather than branding: washed cottons, contrast stitching, a tonal badge at the sleeve.
