Men's Sandals

How much of the foot an upper holds decides how a sandal wears, and everything else follows from that. Slides give the widest span of it, a single band across the instep that the foot steps into and out of without ceremony; flip flops narrow that hold to a thong between the toes, so the foot works harder to keep them on. Flat sandals sit at the other end, crossing the instep with two or three straps or wrapping the ankle, and gain enough structure to hold their shape off the foot.

Footbeds carry the comfort: moulded rubber and EVA under a slide, contoured cork or leather under a flat sandal, with a buckle or hook-and-loop strap where the fit needs adjusting. Uppers run from smooth and pebbled leather to webbing, technical nylon and moulded rubber, and outsoles from flat treaded rubber to raised, sculpted profiles.
