Shaft height is measured separately, from the top of the heel to the top edge.

A combat boot laces through eyelets and often speed hooks up the front, with a padded collar, a lugged rubber sole and a heavier toe. The Chelsea is the sleeker of the two, while the combat boot holds the ankle far more firmly.
