Wash inside out at 30C on a short, gentle cycle in a full but not packed drum, and keep knits away from zips, denim and hook-and-loop fastenings. Skip fabric softener, which loosens surface fibres. Dry flat or on low heat rather than a hot tumble. Once pills form, a fabric shaver or a fine comb lifts them without pulling the knit.
