MEN'S AND WOMEN'S
Generation Love
Generation Love runs two registers at once. The tailoring is left plain — crepe, tweed, linen and glen plaid blazers, cut with a narrow shoulder and nothing applied to them at all. The crystal goes somewhere else entirely, set across sweatshirts, bodysuits, knit cardigans and denim, where nobody expects to find it. The New York label has worked that split since 2008, and it is why a piece can go out to dinner without announcing that it dressed up.
The wardrobe is built to be mixed across that line. Blazers come cropped or dropped long and oversized, skirts arrive in vegan leather and crepe, tops in lace, mesh and cotton poplin, with denim running through the middle of it. Sizing follows the US scale and the palette stays close to black, ivory and washed blue, so the one embellished piece in an outfit never has to compete for attention. Styles carry names rather than numbers, which is how a house shape can be followed from one season to the next.
