MEN'S AND WOMEN'S
Francesca Bellavita
Line is settled before anything else here. Toes are extended, uppers pared back to as few panels as the leather will allow, and heels shaped to continue the line of the foot instead of interrupting it — a sharpness that reads as modern rather than delicate.
Traditional Italian workmanship sits underneath that severity, which is what stops it looking like a drawing. Soft nappa and patent leathers are worked over lasts by people who know how a shoe has to behave once it is actually walked in, and metal hardware is placed as punctuation rather than decoration. The result is footwear with an edge to it, built by hands used to making things last.
