Agnona

Most fashion houses start with a silhouette. This one started with the yarn. Agnona grew up in the Piedmont hills of northern Italy as a mill, weaving cloth from cashmere, vicuña and alpaca before it ever put its name on a garment, and that order of priorities never really reversed. Handle comes first; the design is what the fibre will allow.

It shows most plainly in the accessories, where there is nowhere to hide. A cashmere scarf is judged on weight, on loft, on how it falls, and on whether the surface stays smooth after a winter of wear rather than fuzzing into pills. Colour runs quiet and tonal, with prints kept graphic and restrained. Production stays in Italy, and the pieces are built to be worn for years rather than for a season.

Frequently asked questions

All FAQ's

Agnona

How can I tell good cashmere from ordinary cashmere?

Weight and recovery, mostly. Pinch a corner and let go: better cashmere springs back rather than staying crumpled. Hold it up to a light and a dense weave shows little of it through. Surface fuzz on a new piece usually means short fibres, which will pill quickly, while long-staple yarn feels cool for a second before it warms and stays smooth far longer. Ply matters too — a two-ply scarf outlives a single-ply one.

What are vicuña and alpaca, and how do they differ from cashmere?

All three are animal fibres finer than sheep's wool. Alpaca is the warmest for its weight and drapes heavily, with less loft than cashmere. Vicuña is the finest and rarest of the three, softer to the hand and lighter again, which is why it is used sparingly. Cashmere sits between them, prized for insulating well at low weight. All three turn up in the house's fabrics, cashmere by far the most often.

Are DIHSAN's Agnona pieces authentic?

Yes. Every piece DIHSAN sells is the brand's own — genuine designer product, with the maker's hardware, stamping and markings intact. Nothing is a reproduction or a licensed imitation.

Will I be charged duties on a DIHSAN Agnona piece order?

No. Duties are included on every DIHSAN order, and US orders include taxes as well.

Can I return an Agnona piece purchase at DIHSAN?

Yes. Eligible Agnona pieces can go back within 14 days of the ship date, for store credit rather than cash, and shipping charges are non-refundable. Items discounted 70% or more — plus swimwear, intimates, and limited-release styles at any discount — are final sale.
