A Canadian winter sets the brief and nothing in the design argues with it. Moose Knuckles builds for cold measured in months rather than weekends, and down does most of the work — an unforgiving material to design around, because it insulates by trapping air and therefore needs volume to function at all. The craft is getting that volume into something a person will keep on indoors rather than shed at the door.

The range runs wider than the parkas alone. Down vests cover the core and leave the arms free; hip-length bombers suit a mild day or a layer under something heavier; mid-length quilted styles and full-length hooded parkas take the season at its coldest. Hoods come with and without fur trim depending on the style, and lighter jersey and knitwear sit alongside the outerwear for the months either side of it.

It is only half the picture, though: fill weight, meaning how much down is actually in the garment, sets the total warmth alongside the shell and the baffle construction.

How do I wash a down-filled Moose Knuckles jacket?

Read the care label first, and remove any fur trim before the coat goes near water. Down wants a front-loading machine, a gentle cold cycle and a detergent made for down rather than standard laundry liquid, which strips the natural oils. Drying matters more than washing: tumble on low with dryer balls until the clusters separate and the loft returns fully, which often takes several cycles.
