Women's Jackets

Structure is the first thing to settle: whether a jacket holds a shape or keeps out weather. Blazers sit at the tailored end, cut with lapels, a set shoulder and a single or double-breasted front, boxy and long or nipped in at the waist. Cropped jackets stop at or above the natural waist and change the proportions of everything worn beneath, while leather and biker styles find the same firmness in the hide itself.

Everything else is dressed for the weather. Puffer jackets trap loft between quilted baffles, down and shell styles pair that fill with a treated outer face, and windbreakers strip the warmth away to leave something light enough to fold into a bag. Bombers and track jackets rib the collar, cuff and hem; denim and utility jackets work through cloth and pocket instead. Wool, nylon ripstop, lambskin and cotton twill do the rest.
