Women's Windbreaker Jackets
A windbreaker is defined by what it leaves out: no insulation at all, only a thin shell cut to block moving air and shed a passing shower. Packable styles fold into their own pocket or a hip pouch; anorak and half-zip cuts pull over the head, often with a kangaroo pocket across the front. Full-zip versions open all the way down, coach jackets fasten with snaps and finish on a straight hem, and longline shapes carry past the hip for more cover.
Ripstop nylon, polyester taffeta and lightweight technical weaves do most of the work, usually with a water-repellent finish that beads light rain and needs reproofing as it wears. Water-resistant is not waterproof: sustained rain calls for taped seams and a millimetre rating. Elasticated or drawcord hems, adjustable cuffs and a hood that cinches at the face control how much wind actually gets in.
