Men's Straight Cut Pants

A straight cut holds one width from the knee to the hem, and that constant is what makes it the easiest leg line to wear. Nothing narrows toward the ankle and nothing opens out, so a hem cut to the right length falls over the shoe instead of stacking on it. Above the knee the fits still vary: slim-straights close the thigh, regular straights leave room, and relaxed straights add more again through the seat.

Rises run low, mid and high, changing where the leg looks like it begins. Denim comes rigid or with stretch, alongside cotton twill and chino, wool suiting, corduroy and linen for warm weather. Hems come plain, cuffed or cropped to stop above the shoe, and heavier fabrics hold the straight line better than soft, fluid ones do.
