MEN'S

Men's Utility Jackets

Utility jackets are organised around their pockets, and where those pockets sit tells you what the jacket was built to do. Field jackets in the M-65 mould carry four bellows pockets across chest and hip with a drawcord waist between them. Chore coats keep three flat patch pockets and a plain button front. Safari and bush cuts add a belt and epaulettes, while the overshirt, or shacket, thins the whole idea down to something worn over a tee and under a coat.

Collars carry more of the variation than the bodies do — a hood that rolls away into a stand collar, a corduroy facing on a plain one, a sherpa collar on a jacket lined to match. Cotton sateen, canvas duck and ripstop take abuse and soften with washing; waxed cotton sheds rain and can be re-proofed. Snap plackets, zip fronts, storm cuffs and hidden drawcords make up the rest.

Men's Utility Jackets

What is an M-65 field jacket?

The M-65 is a US Army field jacket adopted in 1965 to replace the M-1951, cut from a wind- and water-resistant cotton-nylon sateen. Its markers are four bellows pockets — two on the chest, two at the hip — a drawcord waist and hem, a zip front under a snap storm flap, epaulettes, and a hood that stows away inside the stand collar. The pocket layout is the part most modern utility and field jackets borrow; the hidden hood is far rarer.

What is waxed cotton and how do you re-wax it?

Waxed cotton is tightly woven cloth impregnated with a paraffin or beeswax finish that makes it wind- and rain-resistant. The wax fills the weave, so the cloth runs warmer and breathes less than it would untreated, and it creases and lightens with wear. The finish wears off at the cuffs, shoulders and elbows first. To reproof it, brush the jacket clean, warm the wax until it softens, work a thin layer in with a cloth, then heat it gently with a hairdryer so it sinks into the weave. Never machine-wash or dry-clean it.

Are DIHSAN's utility jackets authentic?

Yes. Every piece DIHSAN sells is the brand's own — genuine designer product, with the maker's hardware, stamping and markings intact. Nothing is a reproduction or a licensed imitation.

Will I be charged duties on a DIHSAN utility jacket order?

No. Duties are included on every DIHSAN order, and US orders include taxes as well.

Can I return a utility jacket purchase at DIHSAN?

Yes. Eligible utility jackets can go back within 14 days of the ship date, for store credit rather than cash, and shipping charges are non-refundable. Items discounted 70% or more — plus swimwear, intimates, and limited-release styles at any discount — are final sale.
