Men's Down & Shell Jackets

Insulation and weather protection are two different jobs, and the useful question is which one a jacket is doing. Insulated pieces trap warm air: down fills give the most warmth for their weight, synthetic fills keep working when damp, and hybrid builds put each where it earns its keep. A shell insulates nothing — it blocks wind and rain over whatever you already have on. Packable layers compress into their own pocket, while hardshells and parka-length cuts take the worst of it.

Layering is the point, so check that a shell clears a mid-layer without pulling at the shoulders. Ripstop nylon, laminated membranes and recycled polyester keep the weight down, while taped seams, storm flaps and adjustable hoods decide how much weather a jacket actually stops. Matte, gloss and technical-print finishes cover the ground from mountain to street.

What does fill power mean on a down jacket?

Fill power measures loft: how many cubic inches one ounce of down expands to fill in a lab test. Higher-fill-power down traps more air for its weight, so it gives more warmth per gram. Roughly, 550 to 650 is serviceable for everyday cold, 700 to 800 is genuinely good, and 850 and up sits at the top end. On its own it does not tell you how warm a jacket is, because a piece stuffed with plenty of low-grade down can beat one holding a little high-loft fill.

What is the difference between a down jacket and a shell?

A down jacket insulates: it traps warm air inside baffles of down and keeps your own heat next to you, and a synthetic-filled jacket works the same way with a man-made fibre. A shell insulates nothing at all — its job is to block wind and rain, which is why it feels cold and thin when you first put it on. Shells are sized to go over a mid-layer. Some jackets do both, building insulation into a weatherproof outer, at the cost of being able to separate the two.

Are DIHSAN's jackets authentic?

Yes. Every piece DIHSAN sells is the brand's own — genuine designer product, with the maker's hardware, stamping and markings intact. Nothing is a reproduction or a licensed imitation.

Will I be charged duties on a DIHSAN jacket order?

No. Duties are included on every DIHSAN order, and US orders include taxes as well.

Yes. Eligible jackets can go back within 14 days of the ship date, for store credit, and shipping charges are non-refundable. Items discounted 70% or more — plus swimwear, intimates, and limited-release styles at any discount — are final sale.
