Women's Polo Shirts

A polo lives or dies on its collar. A firm, ribbed collar in a textured piqué stands up on its own and keeps the sporty line; a soft, flat-knit collar folds and drapes, and reads closer to a fine-gauge sweater. The placket takes its cue from that: two- and three-button plackets sit at the classic depth, while half-zips and longer plackets open into a soft V. Sleeves run from cap and short through elbow-length to long, finished with a ribbed band or a plain cuff.

Fit spans body-skimming and cropped through relaxed and boxy, with side vents easing the hem over a waistband. Piqué is a double knit with a honeycomb face, structured and breathable and hard-wearing. Jersey is a single knit with a smoother surface and more give, while merino and cotton-silk knits trade the sports lineage for drape. Contrast tipping, ribbed trims and tonal embroidery finish them.

What is the difference between a piqué and a jersey polo?

Piqué is a double knit with a raised honeycomb face. The three-dimensional structure adds body, holds the fabric a little off the skin so air moves through it, resists wear well and gives the collar enough stiffness to stand up. Jersey is a flat single knit, thinner and more elastic, with a smooth surface that drapes closer to the body and takes print cleanly. Choose piqué for a structured classic polo, jersey for softness and a fluid line.

How do I stop a polo collar from curling or going limp?

Curling is usually heat and hanging damage rather than fabric quality. Wash cold, inside out, with the placket buttoned so the collar keeps its line, and keep it out of the tumble dryer, since heat shrinks the collar rib unevenly against the body knit. Dry flat or on a broad hanger, never pegged by the collar. Press or steam along the fold, then store folded rather than crushed against other garments.
