Take two measurements in a non-padded bra. First, wrap the tape snugly around your ribcage directly under the bust, keeping it level, and round to the nearest even inch for the band, since band sizes run 30, 32, 34 and so on. Second, measure loosely around the fullest part of the bust. The difference between the two gives the cup: one inch is an A, two a B, three a C, four a D, and so on. Sister sizes hold cup volume, so a 32D holds about the same as a 34C.

Every two or three wears is the usual guidance, and rotating between several bras matters as much as the washing, since elastane needs about a day to recover its shape. Fasten the hooks first so they do not catch, then hand wash or use a mesh bag on a delicate cycle at 30C with mild detergent, no bleach and no softener. Never tumble dry; heat destroys the elastic. Reshape moulded cups and dry flat, away from direct heat.
