Women's Single Breasted Coats
A single row of buttons over a front that overlaps only narrowly gives this cut its uninterrupted vertical line: less cloth across the chest than a double-breasted front carries, and a leaner silhouette for it. The number of buttons changes the proportion. A single fastening set at the waist opens the neckline into a long V, while three or four closing high bring the coat closer to a jacket, and a concealed placket removes the hardware from the picture entirely.
Bodies range from straight and narrow through relaxed, dropped-shoulder cuts to belted and flared shapes that take the waist in. Notch and shawl collars, collarless round necks and oversized lapels each reset the top half. Wool melton, cashmere blends, brushed alpaca and technical twills carry the coat, at lengths from cropped to well below the knee.
