Men's Trench Coats
Every detail on a trench coat began as an answer to weather in the field, and the good ones have kept those answers intact. A double-breasted front with a ten-button closure carries the storm flap across the chest and shoulder so rain runs off rather than through. The belt draws the waist in, epaulettes hold gloves or a cap on the shoulder, and a deep back vent lets the coat move. Single-breasted and collarless versions strip the vocabulary back for a quieter line.
Length runs from just above the knee through to mid-calf, and the longer cuts hold their drape better in wind. Cotton gabardine remains the reference cloth — tightly woven, weather-resistant, crisp — with lighter twills and technical blends for warmer months. Removable wool or quilted liners turn a three-season coat into a winter one.
