Men's Raincoats

Whether a raincoat sheds water or actually stops it comes down to the fabric and how its seams are treated. Lightweight packable shells fold into their own pocket and pull on over whatever you are already wearing; longer mac and rain trench cuts reach past the knee, so your legs stay dry when you are standing out in the rain. Anoraks and half-zip pullovers go on over the head, with a short zip at the neck instead of a full-length opening to keep watertight, while hooded rain jackets with storm flaps handle the daily commute.

Taped or welded seams and a placket over the zip matter as much as the outer cloth. Coated cotton and rubberised fabrics have done the job for a century; laminated membranes pass water vapour outward, so sweat escapes rather than condensing inside, while ripstop nylon adds tear resistance for almost no weight. Adjustable hoods, hook-and-loop cuffs and drawcord hems close the gaps that remain.

Men's Raincoats

What does a 10,000mm waterproof rating mean?

It is a hydrostatic head figure: a narrow column of water ten metres tall can press on the fabric before it starts to seep through. As a rough scale, 1,500mm is the floor for calling anything waterproof, 5,000mm copes with light rain and short exposure, 10,000mm handles steady rain and wet snow, and 20,000mm and above is built for sustained downpour or pressure from a strap. Seams count as much as the number, since untaped seams leak whatever the fabric is rated.

What is the difference between waterproof and water-resistant?

Water-resistant relies on a surface treatment, normally a durable water repellent finish, that makes drops bead and roll off. It handles a shower and gives up in sustained rain. Waterproof means a membrane or coating physically blocks water, backed by taped or welded seams and usually a storm flap over the zip. The repellent finish on a waterproof shell still wears off with use, and can be revived by tumble-drying on low or with a wash-in reproofer.

Are DIHSAN's raincoats authentic?

Yes. Every piece DIHSAN sells is the brand's own — genuine designer product, with the maker's hardware, stamping and markings intact. Nothing is a reproduction or a licensed imitation.

Will I be charged duties on a DIHSAN raincoat order?

No. Duties are included on every DIHSAN order, and US orders include taxes as well.

Can I return a raincoat purchase at DIHSAN?

Yes. Eligible raincoats can go back within 14 days of the ship date, for store credit rather than cash, and shipping charges are non-refundable. Items discounted 70% or more — plus swimwear, intimates, and limited-release styles at any discount — are final sale.
