What chain length should a man wear?

Four lengths cover most of it. 45 cm, or 18 inches, sits at the collar and shows only when the top button is open. 50 cm, 20 inches, lands on the collarbone and is the usual starting point. 55 cm, 22 inches, clears a t-shirt neckline, and 60 cm, 24 inches, falls mid-chest, which is where a pendant hangs best. A broader neck or chest generally wants the next length up.

What is a Cuban link, and how does it differ from a curb chain?

Both are built from oval links twisted so they lie flat, so a Cuban link is really a heavier variety of curb chain rather than a separate family. The difference is proportion. Cuban links are thicker through the metal and more tightly interlocked, which gives a denser, more rigid chain that holds its line across the chest. A standard curb chain uses thinner links with more space between them and drapes more freely.
