The test of a winter boot is whether you would still choose it in April. Everything here is drawn as a city shoe first — a clean ankle bootie, a tall shaft to wear under a coat, a combat last with a lugged sole, a loafer for the shoulder weeks — and the weatherproofing is built into the leather rather than added to the outside of it.

Inside is where the seasons separate. Genuine shearling linings take the cold months and stay breathable, so a boot worn indoors all day does not turn damp; leather and microfibre linings suit milder weather and slimmer shapes. Italian leather and suede run through the range, treated through the material, and soles are treaded for grip on wet pavement without looking like hiking boots.
