Women's Ballerina Flats

The topline does the deciding in a ballerina flat: how far the vamp cuts across the foot, and how much of the instep it leaves bare. A low-cut scoop lengthens the foot and takes the shoe closest to its dance origins; a higher, rounder vamp covers more and holds more securely. Pointed toes sharpen the line, almond and round toes keep it soft, and square toes read more modern. Mary Jane straps and elasticated slingbacks add a fastening where the classic slip-on shape has none, and mesh or knit uppers give the flat some stretch.

Soles stay thin by design, though many carry a small stacked heel or a shallow rubber tread for grip. Nappa and calf leather soften into the foot, patent holds its shape, suede stays matte and marks easily, and satin belongs indoors. Grosgrain bows, cap toes, ballet ribbons and quilted uppers are the details that recur.

Frequently asked questions

All FAQ's

Women's Ballerina Flats

How should ballet flats fit?

They should feel snug from the first wear without pinching across the widest part of the foot. Leather stretches roughly a half size in width as it moulds, but it will not lengthen, so a pair that is too long on day one will still be too long once it has settled. Aim for toes just clear of the front and the topline sitting flat against the instep without gaping. In a pointed pair, the extra room sits in the toe — size to the ball of the foot, not the tip.

How do you stop ballet flats slipping off at the heel?

Slipping usually means the topline is cut too low or the shoe is a half size long, rather than a width problem. Adhesive heel grips add a couple of millimetres of padding and a grippier surface at the back, which fixes most cases; a thin insole takes up volume and lifts the foot up into the topline. Styles with an elasticated back or a slingback strap solve it structurally. Damp leather also loosens, so let a pair dry fully before wearing them again.

Are DIHSAN's ballerina flats authentic?

Yes. Every piece DIHSAN sells is the brand's own — genuine designer product, with the maker's hardware, stamping and markings intact. Nothing is a reproduction or a licensed imitation.

Will I be charged duties on a DIHSAN ballerina flat order?

No. Duties are included on every DIHSAN order, and US orders include taxes as well.

Can I return a ballerina flat purchase at DIHSAN?

Yes. Eligible ballerina flats can go back within 14 days of the ship date, for store credit rather than cash, and shipping charges are non-refundable. Items discounted 70% or more — plus swimwear, intimates, and limited-release styles at any discount — are final sale.
