Women's High Top Sneakers
The collar is the whole point of a high top: how far it rises past the ankle bone and how tightly it wraps. Classic canvas basketball silhouettes stop just above the joint with a padded band; mid-tops sit lower and are easier to walk in; taller shaft styles carry on toward a sneaker boot. Some fasten with laces alone, others add a strap, a zip or an elasticated inner sock that pulls the collar close.
Uppers run from cotton canvas and leather to suede, mesh and knit, often combining several panels on one shoe. Soles do the rest: flat vulcanised rubber for board feel, cupsoles for structure, and chunky treaded units that add height. Padded tongues, reinforced eyestays and a rubber toe cap are the points that take the friction, and the first places wear shows.
