Women's Ankle Boots

An ankle boot is decided at the heel, because everything above it is short enough to stay out of the way. Flat and block heels keep the weight low and the walk easy; a stacked or Cuban heel lifts the foot a little; stiletto and kitten heels sharpen the line, and a concealed wedge or platform gains height without the angle. The shaft stops between roughly three and eight inches, and that span is what separates a low bootie from a taller ankle boot.

Toes run almond, round, square and pointed. Fastenings divide into elastic side gores — the gore, not the height, is what makes a Chelsea — side zips, laces and buckled straps, while sock and knit-shafted boots skip the fastening altogether and grip the ankle as they pull on. Smooth calfskin takes a polish and creases across the vamp, suede stays matte and needs protecting, patent holds a hard shine, and lug and treaded rubber soles grip where a leather sole does not.

Women's Ankle Boots

How much room should there be at the toe of an ankle boot?

Leave about 1 to 1.5 cm, roughly half an inch, between your longest toe and the end of the boot when standing. Feet swell through the day, so try boots on in the afternoon and in the socks you intend to wear. Leather gives across the width as it wears in, but it does not gain length, so a boot that is short at the toe will stay short. If you are between sizes and plan to wear thick socks, take the larger.

How do you stop suede boots from getting water marks?

Treat them before the first wear with a suede protector spray, holding the can about 20 cm away, and reapply every few weeks in wet weather. If they do get wet, blot with a clean cloth rather than rubbing, stuff them with paper to hold the shape, and dry at room temperature away from radiators, which stiffen the leather. Once dry, lift the flattened nap with a crepe or brass suede brush and use a suede eraser on scuffs.

Are DIHSAN's ankle boots authentic?

Yes. Every piece DIHSAN sells is the brand's own — genuine designer product, with the maker's hardware, stamping and markings intact. Nothing is a reproduction or a licensed imitation.

Will I be charged duties on a DIHSAN boot order?

No. Duties are included on every DIHSAN order, and US orders include taxes as well.

Can I return a boot purchase at DIHSAN?

Yes. Eligible ankle boots can go back within 14 days of the ship date, for store credit rather than cash, and shipping charges are non-refundable. Items discounted 70% or more — plus swimwear, intimates, and limited-release styles at any discount — are final sale.
