MEN'S

Men's Lace Ups & Oxfords

Closed lacing decides how formal a shoe reads. When the quarters are stitched under the vamp, the facings pull shut into a clean V and the shoe keeps a sealed, tidy line — that is the oxford, and it is the shoe that goes under tailoring without argument. Open lacing sits on top of the vamp instead, spreads wider as it is loosened, and welcomes a higher instep and a heavier trouser above it.

Above the lacing, the toe carries the rest of the message: a wholecut shaped from a single piece of leather says least of all, a plain cap toe stays close behind it, and a wingtip or a punched medallion speaks loudest. Soles shift the register too, from a slim leather sole for evening to a rubber commando for weather. Closed lacing cannot spread far, so an oxford is best fitted snug — leather gives with wear, and a pair that feels roomy when new will only loosen further.

Men's Lace Ups & Oxfords

What is the difference between an oxford and a derby?

The lacing. On an oxford, the quarters carrying the eyelets are stitched beneath the vamp, so the two sides close into a narrow V and cannot open much further, which gives the shoe its formal line. On a derby, those panels sit on top of the vamp and open freely, suiting a higher instep or a broader foot. Oxfords are the dressier of the two and pair more naturally with tailoring.

Do oxfords stretch after being worn?

Leather uppers give with wear, but mostly across the width rather than the length. A calfskin oxford that feels snug across the ball of the foot will usually ease within a few wearings, while one that feels short in the toe will not improve. Because closed lacing limits how far the facings can spread, a shoe that is already tight has little adjustment left in it. Suede gives sooner than smooth calf.

Are DIHSAN's lace-ups authentic?

Yes. Every piece DIHSAN sells is the brand's own — genuine designer product, with the maker's hardware, stamping and markings intact. Nothing is a reproduction or a licensed imitation.

Will I be charged duties on a DIHSAN lace-up order?

No. Duties are included on every DIHSAN order, and US orders include taxes as well.

Can I return a lace-up purchase at DIHSAN?

Yes. Eligible lace-ups can go back within 14 days of the ship date, for store credit rather than cash, and shipping charges are non-refundable. Items discounted 70% or more — plus swimwear, intimates, and limited-release styles at any discount — are final sale.
