More than it looks like it will. Cinched, a belt pulls a wool coat in at the natural waist and creates a defined silhouette that reads closer to tailoring. Left loose or tied at the back, the same coat drapes straight and gives you room to layer a knit or a blazer underneath. Because most belts are self-fabric and removable, you can also take one off entirely for a cleaner column.
