Severity is the point. 1017 ALYX 9SM womenswear takes a hard silhouette — a squared shoulder, a narrow sleeve, a hem cut flat rather than curved — and then interrupts it with something mechanical: an exposed buckle, a strap crossing the body, a zip pull left long enough to notice.
The result sits between tailoring and technical gear. Coated and bonded fabrics hold their shape rather than drape; jersey and fine knits run body-close as the counterweight; leather appears in trousers, skirts and outerwear with the hardware doing the decorating. Bags follow the same rule, worn across the chest or on a wide webbing strap so they read as part of the outfit rather than an accessory to it. Black dominates, with bone, silver and the occasional deep colour breaking it.
