MEN'S AND WOMEN'S
Palm Angels
The skate park as subject, not as costume. Palm Angels is an Italian label built on an outsider's view of West Coast skateboarding, and the clothes hold that double reading: the loose uniform of the skate park — track pants, hoods, tees worn soft — cut and finished to a standard the original clothes never had. The gap between what is being pictured and how it is made is the tension the whole label runs on.
The track pant is the piece everything else is measured against, cut long with a contrast band down the outside leg and logo work carried along it, often in a multicolour sequence. Around it sits a graphic vocabulary that stays deliberately small: curved and classic logo lettering, spray-paint and splatter effects, the palm the name points to, and the embroidered bear that turns up across sweats, knitwear and hoods. Bags run to canvas totes carrying little more than oversized lettering, and footwear stays low — leather sneakers rather than anything technical.
