Fit is the whole argument. Selected's menswear rests on the idea that a shirt, a knit and a pair of trousers only read as well made when the shoulder, the sleeve and the rise are right, so the cutting stays conservative and the effort goes into how a garment sits once it is actually on.

That produces a wardrobe with very little friction in it. Suiting is plain enough to break apart, so a jacket goes over a crew-neck as readily as over a shirt; knitwear stays fine rather than bulky; shirting is cut clean at the collar and through the body. Outerwear keeps its lines straight and its colours neutral. It is Scandinavian in the ordinary sense — nothing asks for attention, and everything works with what is already in the drawer.
