A shirt is judged at the collar and the cuff, because those are the parts that stay visible under everything else. Emanuel Berg has built a menswear range on that premise since 1989, working from Italian-milled cloth — Albini, Thomas Mason and Canclini among the names — and cutting and sewing in Europe so the shirting can carry the range rather than sit beneath it.
Business shirting anchors the offer, running through poplins, twills and oxfords in white, blue and quieter patterns, with linens taking over in warm weather. From there the wardrobe extends outwards: polos and tees, fine-gauge knitwear meant to sit under a jacket, shirt jackets that split the difference between the two, and blazers and heavier layers when the weather demands them. Proportions stay consistent enough to mix.
