How do I measure my head for a hat size?

Run a soft tape around the head about a centimetre above the ears and across the middle of the forehead, sitting where the hat band will actually rest. Keep the tape level and snug without pulling. That circumference is your size, and if you land between two, take the larger one and use a sizing strip inside the band. Hair worn up or down can shift the number, so measure the way you plan to wear it.

How should hats be stored so they keep their shape?

Store a brimmed hat upside down on its crown, or on a shelf where nothing rests on top of it, so the brim is not bent under weight. Avoid hanging a felt hat on a hook, which distorts the crown over time. Keep it out of direct sun and away from radiators, since heat dries felt and straw. Flat caps and truckers can be laid flat, but stuffing the crown lightly helps a trucker keep its front panel upright.
