WOMEN'S
Gianvito Rossi
Proportion does most of the work in a Gianvito Rossi shoe. On a pump, a pointed toe carries the foot forward, a fine stiletto keeps the line unbroken beneath it, and the shoe reads as a continuation of the leg rather than something standing under it. The house was founded in 2006 and keeps its artisanal roots in San Mauro Pascoli, in Emilia-Romagna, a region known for luxury footwear.
The signature Gianvito pump repeats its pointed toe and stiletto at heel heights from 105 millimetres down to 55. Beside it, the range takes in slingbacks, a d'Orsay pump, and the Plexi, a pointed stiletto in clear PVC and patent leather. The Portofino sandal reduces the shoe to a thin strap across the toes and another round the ankle. The pumps come in suede, glossy nappa and calf, and the house leaves a shoe in its mould for twenty-four hours before finishing it.
