Knitwear is the engine of this Canadian label. Pique and waffle textures are given enough body to hold a collar upright, ribbed trims keep cuffs and hems in shape, fine-gauge cardigans layer without bulk, and heavyweight French terry sits at the softer end of the range.

The look borrows from old sporting-club dress without tipping into costume. Rugby stripes, pinstripes, contrast tipping and camp collars all turn up, in a palette that rarely strays from navy, white and green, with corduroy and cotton shorts and structured caps alongside. How should fine-gauge knitwear be stored?

Folded, never hung. A hanger puts the entire weight of a knit on two points and pulls the shoulders into peaks that rarely come out again. Fold along the seams, keep the stack somewhere dry and dark, and give wool a cedar block rather than mothballs. Before anything goes away for a season, make sure it is clean: moths are drawn to body oils and food traces far more than to the fibre itself.

What makes a rugby polo different from a regular one?

Weight, mostly. A rugby is knitted heavier, cut fuller through the body and finished with a stiffer collar and a reinforced placket, all inherited from a shirt originally built to be grabbed at. Bold horizontal stripes are the traditional marking. A standard pique polo is lighter, closer to the body and softer at the collar, which makes it the dressier and more formal of the two.
