Alashan Cashmere

Pure cashmere is the softest and the warmest for its weight, and it drapes closer to the body. Blends trade a little of that for other properties: cotton cashmere runs cooler and holds a crisper shape, merino adds resilience and springs back better after folding, and linen cotton makes a lighter piece for warm weather. None is a downgrade; they simply suit different seasons, so check the fibre content listed on the piece.

Pilling comes from short surface fibres rubbing loose, so it appears wherever there is friction: under an arm, where a bag strap sits, along the back of a seat. It is normal on new pieces and slows once those loose fibres have worked their way out. Remove pills with a cashmere comb or a fabric shaver rather than pulling them off by hand, which drags the yarn. Resting a piece between wears helps too.
