The Prada men's wardrobe is organised around one garment more than any other: the nylon blouson, short in the body, elasticated at hem and cuff, and cut with the precision a tailor would give a jacket. What follows is deliberately spare. Jackets and coats are numbered on the Italian scale — IT 46, 48, 50 and upwards — which works out at roughly a UK or US 36, 38 and 40. Shirts are measured by collar in centimetres, so a 39 sits close to a 15.5. What is the difference between a nylon blouson and padded outerwear?

A blouson is a single-layer shell: short, elasticated at the hem and cuff, and built for wind and light rain rather than deep cold, which makes it the three-season piece. Padded outerwear adds insulation between shell and lining, so it holds warmth and sits heavier and slightly boxier on the body. Between them they cover most of the year without overlapping much.
