Sizing also varies across the Genius collections — some number their sizes, others letter them — and the two systems do not convert cleanly. Work from the measurements listed on the individual piece rather than from the size name, and allow for whatever you expect to wear underneath.

Down-filled pieces take their warmth from loft: the fill traps air, and the quilting or baffling exists to hold that fill evenly in place. Technical-shell pieces work differently, relying on the fabric for wind and water resistance with little or no insulation, which makes them lighter and better suited to mid-season wear. Plenty of pieces combine both, insulating the body while leaving sleeves or side panels unfilled.
