Strip the branding out and a garment has to survive on its cut alone. That is the position MM6 takes, and it is why the pieces that read as menswear here are the plainest things in the range. A bomber, a work jacket, a crew-neck sweater, a five-pocket jean: each is left recognisable and then pushed out of its usual proportion, with the shoulder dropped, the body widened or a seam moved off line.

Fabric is generally flat and unfussy, in cotton drill, washed denim, wool jersey and nylon, so the pattern-cutting is what registers. Outerwear takes the most attention, layered and often cut long; knitwear leans loose and heavy; footwear pairs plain uppers with substantial soles. Accessories share the same anonymity, the folded triangular Japanese tote most of all. What is left is a wardrobe identified by a white label and a circled numeral.

Is MM6 cut as unisex?

A good deal of it functions that way in practice. Many of the outerwear, knitwear and denim shapes are drafted with deliberate volume and a dropped shoulder rather than to a close body line, so the fit does not depend on a narrow size band. Pieces are still labelled on a women's or Italian scale in most cases, which means going by flat shoulder, chest and length measurements rather than by the number on the label.

How should exposed and raw-edged seams be treated?

They are a finished detail rather than an unfinished one, so leave them alone. Overlocked or deliberately open edges shed a little thread with wear and then settle after the first wash. Trimming a loose end flush with small scissors is fine, pulling it is not. Wash cold and inside out, skip the tumble dryer, and where a garment combines raw edges with a structured panel, treat the whole piece by the more delicate half.
