The front is cut flatter, with less room at the fly, and the high rise is shaped to sit at the natural waist rather than on the hip. The hip is cut with more curve than a straighter build fills, which can leave spare fabric at the sides.

Check shoulder width first, because it is the hardest measurement for a tailor to change. On a L'Agence blazer, compare it, along with chest across and sleeve length, against a jacket you already own and like. Women's and men's sizes follow different scales, so the number alone says little. A women's blazer is also usually cut closer through the waist than a man's, which can pull across a straighter torso when buttoned.
