Tailoring and outerwear use the Italian scale, where 46 sits near a US 36, 48 near a 38, 50 near a 40 and 52 near a 42, while shirting is often labelled by collar size in centimetres, with 39 near a 15.5 and 41 near a 16. The cut is Italian, meaning close through the chest and armhole with a shorter jacket length, so people used to English or American tailoring often size up.

What is the difference between a horsebit loafer and a driving shoe?

Construction. The horsebit loafer has a proper leather sole and a defined heel, making it a dress shoe, with the metal bit sitting on a flat vamp. A driving shoe is unlined, flexible and set on a rubber-studded sole that wraps up the heel, made for a pedal rather than a pavement. Gucci makes both, and both can carry the bit, so the hardware alone does not tell you which one you are looking at.
