Cannage is the house's woven quilting motif, a lattice of raised diamonds stitched into leather or fabric and drawn from Napoleon III caned chairs. It appears most recognisably on handbags and small leather goods, where the padding gives the surface real depth, and turns up flattened as a print or an embossing elsewhere. On a well-made piece the diamonds are even and symmetrical, meeting cleanly at the seams rather than running off at an angle.

European sizing is used throughout, and the house has produced footwear across quite different constructions for decades, so a slingback, a boot and a sneaker in the same size will not feel identical. Pointed toes eat length, which means a sharply pointed shoe often needs a half size more than a round or square one.
